Francis Maloney

Date of Birth:
May 1841
Date of Death:
June 1872

Francis Maloney was the son of Anthony Maloney and Ellen O'Kearney.  Anthony lived in Corofin and it is likely that Francis was born there.  Somewhere between 1844 and 1855, the family emigrated to Rochester, NY and lived in Monroe County.  The family kept a grocery on State Street and Francis is listed as living at home on State Street in 1860 as a machinist.  He was a member of the 54th Regiment in 1863.

His brothers were named Michael, Edward and Thomas.

He eventually commanded the regiment and became a Major and married Sarah Lany Weed.

Their 2 children were Mary Frances and Frederick.  Frederick married Bridget Hanley and their eldest child was Mary Frances Maloney

Frederick passed on Major Maloney's saber to her and she married Austin Edward Eagan in 1936.   Their son Patrick Eagan is the keeper of the sabre.
