Joe Cunningham

Date of Birth:
April 1912

Joe Cunningham from Crusheen County Clare emigrated to New York and lived to enjoy 100 years.  His party at Kerry Hall in April 2012 was attended by Kilrush Man, Irish Consul General Noel Kilkenny and the guests were entertained by the Cunningham brothers - sons of Joe's who carried on the band that Joe had founded.

Joe met Rose from Co. Leitrim at Carmelite Hall in 1948 and they were married for 64 years.  His secret to living 100 years was his positive outlook on life.  He always had a kind word to say and never let himself get stressed. He remained young at heart and attended Art Classes at the Aisling Irish Community Center in Yonkers.  He was often dubbed the Mayor of Woodlawn because he knew everybody.
