Mary Casey

Date of Birth:
Date of Death:

Mary Casey from Ennistymon, County Clare travelled to Australia as one of the famine orphans on the Thomas Arbuthnot in 1850.

She is sometimes listed as being from Ennis but her death notice says Annistymon which we assume is a spelling error.

She worked for F.W. Vyner in the Tumut area and married Thomas Healy in 1852.   After many years hard work, they bought their

own holding in Lacmalac and became industrious pioneers.  Tumut is the major centre of a rich grazing area that is located in the foothills of Kosciuszko

National Park.  It is the northern gateway to the Australian Alps and the New South Wales Snow Resorts.

Their children were:

Edward Healy

Thomas Healy

William Healy

John Healy

James Healy

Mary Healy

Annie Healy

Ellen Healy
